Protoscar LAMPO2, Electric Sports Car Prototype

This electric vehicle, which is the successor of the first LAMPO concept, shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 2009, will be displayed at the Swiss Motor Show, next month.

Using the General Motors’ Kappa platform, the LAMPO2 lost some weight and features better aerodynamics. It’s powered by two electric motors (one for each axle) that generate 408 HP and 640 Nm of torque, being able to go up to 60 MPH in just about 5 seconds and reaching a top speed 124 MPH.

The LAMPO2 uses an all-electric plug-in rechargeable drivetrain from BRUSA, that offers four distinct charging modes, for the large-capacity lithium ion battery pack, including an interface for DC fast charging via an off-board system, which offers up to 60 miles of range, after just 10 minutes of charge.

E-Sphyra Electric Supercar Reaches Prototype Phase

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.The E-Sphyra concept car was created by a group of students (including the two main designers, John Daretry and Cyril Prongue) from the Belfort-Montbeliard University of Technology, in France. This supercar is intended to be a performance-oriented sports car, with a modern, aerodynamic exterior design.

The project was developed by three different departments, the first one worked on the architecture, the second was in charge of the electric parts, while the last one created the body, all coordinated by Thibault Brant, the man responsible with the entire project.

The ultra-light fiberglass body kit was built using a master model made from polyethylene, based on two scale models. The E-Sphyra prototype is powered by a rear-mounted electric engine which generates 100 kilowatts (134 HP) and it weighs only 800 kgs. The construction of this concept vehicle took more than two thousand hours.

Venturi Volage Electric Supercar, Expected Into Production in 2012

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.The North American International Auto Show (Detroit) was the perfect opportunity for French auto manufacturer Venturi, to present once again its electric supercar concept, the Volage.

First introduced at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, this concept vehicle is a two-seater, four-wheel drive sports car and it’s the result of the collaboration between Venturi Automobiles and tire manufacturers Michelin.

The aerodynamic carbon fibre body kit, designed by Sacha Lakic, and the aluminium and composite material chassis make the Volage light, which is very important considering the Lithium-Polymer batteries used are quite heavy (350 kgs). With an overall weight of just 1,075 kgs and an even distribution (45% at the front and 55% at the rear), the supercar goes up to 62 mph in less than 5 seconds.

Benefiting from Michelin’s Active Wheel technology, the Venturi Volage concept uses two incorporated electric motors for each wheel (one for drive and one for suspension), resulting in a total of 8 electric motors.

Expected to come into limited production in 2012, each car will be assembled by hand at the Venturi workshops in Monaco.

Audi Avatar, Electric Supercar of the Year 2032

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.The Audi Avatar supercar concept is the wet dream of the computer generation, a design created by Edwin Conan (Yi Yuan) and a pretty nifty electric vehicle. Supposedly, this is the supercar of the year 2032, packing a very light and aerodynamic body and being able to go from 0 to 100 km/h in only 2.9 seconds.

The maximum speed of the Audi Avatar is 360 km/h and you should also know that this futuristic road racer comes with three bucket seats. What does this concept rely on? Well, it uses a “long range supercharge-ion battery”, that drives four in-wheel electric motors.

We’re wondering if this car is able to stay on the road at its max speed and not take off, but we guess that some aerodynamic feats stop it from flying against the driver’s will.

Venturi Volage Electric Supercar Is a 2012 Concept

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.Electric cars are usually vehicles with moderated amounts of power and looks that would make you turn to the usual polluting automobiles. However, the future brings us hot supercar designs, based on electric power, as is this Venturi Volage roadster. With an output of 295 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque you can surely say that “this baby’s got a temper”.

Designed by Michelin, the Venturi Volage concept uses Active Wheel Technology in order to give each wheel extra control, so the vehicle would run better and safer. The exterior look of this car is impressive, but sadly this is a 2012 concept we’re talking about, so we’ll have to do some serious waiting.
