Lamborghini X Concept Supercar, What Reventon Could Have Been…

Emil Baddal didn’t seem to like the Lamborghini Reventon supercar, so the talent Iranian artist created his own view of the vehicle, known as the Lamborghini X Concept. Who needs a complicated branding for such a beautiful concept car?

Lamborghini X Concept Supercar, What Reventon Could Have Been...

The front of the supercar looks great, but I have to say that Lamborghini X is a tad bulky and its wheels are far too big to be practical. Also, the concept is square-ish and it lacks the sensuality and curves that were present (although a little bit) on the latest Lamborghini models.

Since Lambos are usually associated with bulls, I’d have to compare the X with a shark, simply by having a look at its front side. How many horse power would one hide under this beast’s carbon fibre chassis? Would this defeat a Veyron? How about a GTR?

Hybrid H Car Concept Uses Hydrogen and Electricity Plus… Windmills?!

If Batman were to change his ride, the vehicle below would stand a pretty decent chance at replacing the Batmobile. It’s got the looks, the aggressiveness and it’s even modern enough not to pollute the crime-ridden cities. The “H Car” concept was created by Thomas Pastor and can be admired below.

Hybrid H Car Concept Uses Hydrogen and Electricity Plus... Windmills?!

This futuristic car has all the design elements of a sports car, but it’s also quite luxurious. It gets its energy from electric batteries, hydrogen cells and an interesting mechanism: the rotating blades incorporated into the wheels. They act like windmills and generate the extra power needed to make the “H Car” a truly eco ride.

What do you say? Paint it black and call Batman?

Flying Ferrari X-Racer is Wipeout Material, too Futuristic to be Called a “Car”

Are you familiar with the Wipeout console game? The series includes Wipeout 2097 and a title called Wipeout HD, that, if I’m not mistaking was also made for the PlayStation 3 console. Well, the following concept racing vehicle reminds me of the flying racers you could use in the title, only this time it’s a Ferrari we’re talking about.

Flying Ferrari X-Racer is Wipeout Material, too Futuristic to be Called a Car

Designer Vincent Montreuil created the beautiful Flying Ferrari X-Racer concept, although it’s far from being a supercar, since this word will change its definition 50 years from now. The creator of this wonderful Ferrari imagines a future with a new sport, an air vehicle racing with race tracks in the air, basically an upgrade from the current Formula 1.

Could the X-Racer be the future of Ferrari racing cars? Will the Alonsos and Lewis Hamiltons of the future drive such sci-fi racers?

There are even some specifications attached to this project and we learn that the super racer will measure 8 metres in length, 12 in width and 1.56 in height. Ferrari X-Racer’s  speed will be around 2056 km/h and the engine will be “2 Turbostator with Xtrem FireForce”, whatever that means.

Cooling turbines, lateral air intakes and a stabilization reactor complete the specifications list. What do you say, futuristic or viable?

Audi Exo Concept, Powered by Kinetic Energy

Designer Andrea Mocellin seems to have a great idea for the future of the Audi brand, one that relies on the human-car symbiosis. The Audi Exo concept car uses an exoskeleton, nanotechnology and relies on “human power” to get around. The vehicle is inspired by sports equipment and footwear, as you can see for yourself in the images below:

Also, Audi Exo will be based on “human instinct” and use the owner’s kinetic energy as a power source. Too bad that Andrea didn’t detail this technology, although I have a feeling that the designer is not talking about raw power or pedals, but rather something more elaborate.

Power train will change in the future, that’s for sure, but will cars depend on our energy, instead of us depending on them?

BMW Pixie, Feminine View of a Masculine Passion

July 25th, 2009

Supercar design and the passion for concept cars is somewhat of a male-only segment, but we’re keen to welcome newcomers to the field, feminine designers included. Among them there’s Magdalena Schmid, who created the stunning BMW Pixie concept car you can see below. This is not only a vehicle, but also a symbol of values like “relationships, responsability and active participation in society”.

BMW Pixie, Feminine View of a Masculine Passion

Pixie has an unusual surface, since it uses porous structures on the exterior side, with the advantage of achieving a bigger internal surface, when compared to the exterior one. This will be useful for features like an evaporative cooling system and what’s more interesting is that the car will sport upgrades to its architecture, just like the software/firmware updates.

For example, the electric drive train might become obsolete in a couple of years, so it’ll need to be upgraded. Since this is a car of the future, it won’t waste energy, recycling it instead via the infrastructure of streetlamps, providing energy feedback. Brilliant, feminine and eco-friendly! What more could we want?

Lamborghini Insecta Concept, Inspired by Beetles

The Lamborghini Insecta concept was designed by Iulian Bumbu, who in 2008 completed the Transportation Design Master Course with Alfa Romeo at the Scuola Politecnica di Design (SPD) in Milan. The length of the Insecta concept car is 4300mm (169 inches), similar to that of the Lamborghini Gallardo, however the Insecta is lower and wider than the Gallardo, plus it features a slightly longer wheelbase.

The Lamborghini concept supercar is powered by a 5 litre V10 engine and it uses the same drivetrain as the Gallardo. This supercar comes with a glass engine cover that blends into the glass roof of the vehicle and, as far as the bodywork is concerned, it’s all carbon fibre to reduce weight.

Inside the Lamborghini concept you’ll find a deep bucket seats, a high center console and an U-shaped sports steering wheel.

Venturi Volage Electric Supercar Is a 2012 Concept

Electric cars are usually vehicles with moderated amounts of power and looks that would make you turn to the usual polluting automobiles. However, the future brings us hot supercar designs, based on electric power, as is this Venturi Volage roadster. With an output of 295 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque you can surely say that “this baby’s got a temper”.

Venturi Volage Electric Supercar Is a 2012 Concept

Designed by Michelin, the Venturi Volage concept uses Active Wheel Technology in order to give each wheel extra control, so the vehicle would run better and safer. The exterior look of this car is impressive, but sadly this is a 2012 concept we’re talking about, so we’ll have to do some serious waiting.

Peugeot RD 3 Concept Car, One Passenger, Three Wheels

So many three wheel concept cars lately… Must be a new trend, like the touchscreen is for mobile phones. Well, at least this looks fairly good and it’s been designed by Carlos Arturo Torres Tovar.

Bear in mind that the Peugeot RD 3 can become more compact during crowded traffic and low speeds, making it the ideal ride for a long distance travel.

The RD 3 displays information regarding the road you’re on, plus any other data you might require via vocal command. The RD isn’t the speedster you’re dreaming of, nor is it tomorrow’s supercar, but rather an useful urban vehicle, perfect for suburbs and sneaking in front of other automobiles.

Energya Concept Vehicle Makes Three Wheels Trendy

As laptops and mobile phones converge to singular devices, so do the cars and motorcycles… The result? Hybrids with three wheels, of course. The 4 wheel aficionados might consider this a sacrilege, but it’s the way of the future after all. Higgins-Aube shows us a bit of that not so remote future, through the ENERGYA concept vehicle:

Energya Concept Vehicle Makes Three Wheels Trendy

This is a side-by-side two seater which some might consider a bike, but it’s certainly more than that, as it includes the components of automobiles that usually come with 4 wheels.

There’s even a name for such a concept, the “motomobile”, as stated by Higgins-Aube. Behind the neat looks hides a 200 HP motorcycle engine, that powers a single rear wheel.
