Created by the Swiss company Protoscar (CleanCar Shapers), the LAMPO2 is an electric sports car prototype. This electric vehicle, which is the successor of the first LAMPO concept, shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 2009, will be displayed at the Swiss Motor Show, next month.

Protoscar LAMPO2, Electric Sports Car Prototype

Using the General Motors’ Kappa platform, the LAMPO2 lost some weight and features better aerodynamics. It’s powered by two electric motors (one for each axle) that generate 408 HP and 640 Nm of torque, being able to go up to 60 MPH in just about 5 seconds and reaching a top speed 124 MPH.

The LAMPO2 uses an all-electric plug-in rechargeable drivetrain from BRUSA, that offers four distinct charging modes, for the large-capacity lithium ion battery pack, including an interface for DC fast charging via an off-board system, which offers up to 60 miles of range, after just 10 minutes of charge.

The E-Sphyra concept car was created by a group of students (including the two main designers, John Daretry and Cyril Prongue) from the Belfort-Montbeliard University of Technology, in France. This supercar is intended to be a performance-oriented sports car, with a modern, aerodynamic exterior design.

The project was developed by three different departments, the first one worked on the architecture, the second was in charge of the electric parts, while the last one created the body, all coordinated by Thibault Brant, the man responsible with the entire project.

The ultra-light fiberglass body kit was built using a master model made from polyethylene, based on two scale models. The E-Sphyra prototype is powered by a rear-mounted electric engine which generates 100 kilowatts (134 HP) and it weighs only 800 kgs. The construction of this concept vehicle took more than two thousand hours.

The Lamborghini Madura concept car was imagined by Slavche Tanevsky, a student at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich. It was created in partnership with Lamborghini and Audi designers for Lamborghini’s Raw Materials Project.

Slavche has designed a model with the classic, aggressive lines of a Lambo, but with a hybrid engine. This concept vehicle carries the name of an island in Indonesia, well known for its bull races.

Although it slightly resembles the Reventon and the Estoque, the overall design of this hybrid concept car is more aggressive and more focused. The front-mid placed hybrid drivetrain is “hidden” under the curvy hood. In the front side the Madura has huge air intakes and slim headlights, oriented in such a way to accentuate the cars’ width.

“The Madura is a proposal for the first hybrid Lamborghini scheduled for 2016. Doing a car more efficient and more nature-friendly, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be exciting, good-looking and fast. (But) in my opinion this new propulsion system should be represented on the looks of the car.” said Tanevsky.

The Lamborghini Ankonian is a concept supercar created by designer Slavche Tanevski, as part of a project at the Munich University of Applied Sciences. The Ankonian also gets its name from a bull, keeping the tradition of the creator of the auto brand, Feruccio Lamborghini.

Lamborghini Ankonian, Future Car of The Dark Knight?

This concept vehicle, as any Lamborghini, is quite low, has a long and narrow body and a complex exterior design. There are no technical specs available, but we can assume that it will probably fit in the Lamborghini supercars range.

While the Ankonian is not necessarily a beautiful car, it sure has a raw, aggressive look and it could be compared to a Stealth bomber or it could well be something the Dark Knight would ride in.

Venturi Volage Electric Supercar, Expected Into Production in 2012

February 3rd, 2010

The North American International Auto Show (Detroit) was the perfect opportunity for French auto manufacturer Venturi, to present once again its electric supercar concept, the Volage.

Venturi Volage Detroit 2010

First introduced at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, this concept vehicle is a two-seater, four-wheel drive sports car and it’s the result of the collaboration between Venturi Automobiles and tire manufacturers Michelin.

The aerodynamic carbon fibre body kit, designed by Sacha Lakic, and the aluminium and composite material chassis make the Volage light, which is very important considering the Lithium-Polymer batteries used are quite heavy (350 kgs). With an overall weight of just 1,075 kgs and an even distribution (45% at the front and 55% at the rear), the supercar goes up to 62 mph in less than 5 seconds.

Venturi Volage Detroit 2010

Benefiting from Michelin’s Active Wheel technology, the Venturi Volage concept uses two incorporated electric motors for each wheel (one for drive and one for suspension), resulting in a total of 8 electric motors.

Expected to come into limited production in 2012, each car will be assembled by hand at the Venturi workshops in Monaco.

Maserati Tramontane is a concept car created by designer Ondrej Jirec, from the Czech Republic. Jirec is none other than the creator of the Audi O, designed back in 2008. The Tramontane was developed as part of the designer’s studies at the Art Center College of Design (Pasadena).

Maserati Tramontane, Lightweight Electric Supercar

The new Maserati concept’s body consists of four distinct layers, which flow from the interior to the exterior. The first one is the exterior glass surface, sustained by a black frame that attaches to the chassis. Tramontane’s second layer contains the dashboard and the headlights and also protects the interior air vents and the speakers.

The impact-resistant lower section of the seats makes out the third layer. This one also extends to the exterior and carries the tail lights. The supercar’s fourth and final layer is located in the front of the vehicle and it serves as a case for the electric engine and as a dashboard. This segment is connected to the chassis and conceals all the electronics.

Maserati Tramontane, Lightweight Electric Supercar

Maserati Tramontane’s interior design is very simple. On the dashboard we can find a large gauge with digital display, for better navigation. The concept vehicle measures 4.25 meters in length, 1.17 meters in height and it is powered by two electric motors, one for the front wheels and the other for the rear wheels.

In conclusion, the Tramontane is intended to be “a lightweight electric luxury supercar”, to quote Jirec.

After the sublime Bugatti Renaissance concept, today we present another design by John Mark Vicente: the Ferrari Imola. This time, we don’t have a German, French or Franco-German car, but an Italian one that could give plenty of ideas to the designers at Ferrari.

Ferrari Imola Supercar, Wicked Sportscar Design by John Mark Vicente

The various sketches we show you have been created by John Mark Vicente using Photoshop CS2 and Softimage XSI. According to the author, his Ferrari concept is inspired by the Ferrari F70 created by Randy Rodriguez and the Dino Competizione by Sacha Selipanov.

Aesthetically, the Imola concept is a Spider without windscreen that reminds us of the KTM X-Bow. The designer used triangular and trapezoidal shapes to create the head and tail lights and the grille. The enormous rims and semi-slick tires underline the aggressiveness of the vehicle.

The dual exhaust highlights its sporty approach, while the side mirrors and customized flanks add a touch of grace and power. With such a look and a future hybrid Ferrari V6 engine (coming in a few years), this supercar is ready to take on the road monsters like Ariel Atom, Caparo T1, KTM X-Bow and especially the Lotus Elise.

Bugatti Renaissance Concept, Rebirth of the Veyron

The Bugatti Renaissance is a concept car created by Canadian designer John Mark Vicente. He is a graduate of the Communication Design program at the Emily Carr University and what you can see below we consider to be the ultimate supercar.

Bugatti Renaissance Concept, Rebirth of the Veyron

The Renaissance is a model based on the Bugatti Veyron, but it could well be, in the future, the vehicle that replaces it. Although running on the same platform as the Veyron, the exterior design of this concept Bugatti is far more aggressive, and overall…better.

At the front of the car, the grill has grown in size and the headlights have been redesigned, now resembling the ones on the Audi R8 and also it has a carbon fiber skirt that fits great. Above the cockpit we notice that the twin roof vents are now slightly larger.

At the back, there are two larger vents, redesigned tail lights and the Bugatti logo framed by a red line that goes all the way to the roof scoops. The car uses impressive 26 inch rims. Thought the Veyron couldn’t get any better? Apparently it can!

The 2017 Alfa Romeo Executive Fastback Saloon is a concept car designed by Jacob McMurry, a graduate of Art Center College of Design. The design of this elegant vehicle is inspired from the Carnival of Venice and if you’ve been there, you know what we mean.

The vehicle’s roof is made entirely out of smart glass panels, that have the ability to turn completely transparent or opaque. The car benefits from a diesel V8 engine that sends the power to the rear wheels, or an optional biodiesel engine.

This Alfa Romeo concept car, which has been designed before the Fiat/Chrysler partnership, inspires comfort, luxury and elegance. Also, thanks to its boat-like tail end, it could well be compared to a small yacht, although in the end it’s only a car…an interesting one, to say the least.

The FSX is a Ferrari concept car designed by Academy of Art University (San Francisco) graduate, Paul Kim. The name “FSX” stands for Ferrari Sedan Xperiment, because this is pretty much what this vehicle stands for, an unusual design experiment.

Ferrari FSX Concept, the Four-Door Sedan Supercar

The vehicle is a four-door sedan powered by a naturally aspirated mid-mounted V12 engine. It is intended to be a car for people who enjoy going on road trips with friends or family, but also like the feeling of driving a sports car.

The FSX has floating A and C pillars that direct the airflow around the top of the car, into the engine bay, keeping the V12 engine cool. To provide downforce, air is passed through the revolving rear spoiler. Also at the front of the ride there’s an adjustable splitter, that directs air in the split radiators placed on each side of the Ferrari supercar.
